Why Watches are still Common

With the fast advancement of technology, watches are very close to being replaced by the smartphone. However, if you look around your surroundings, it is still very common to see people still wearing watches. So why do people still wear watches? Simply because watches are the most convenient accessory for men and women to wear, including its versatility. Let's look at some of the reasons below.

Watches are easy to use

"Phones are better than watches", is a common response from a generation who refuse to believe the adverse effects of constant cell phone use. Trying to find your cell phone in your pocket regularly just to check the time looks desperate. A wristwatch is the most convenient way to tell the time.

A quick glance towards your wrist is a much classier way to keep tabs on time during important occasions, not to mention how rude it would seem to your companions if you pulled out your phone during a conversation.

On other occasions where it's best to leave the phone concealed - like the beach, a funeral, a wedding, a watch is a much more subtle and convenient way to check time.

Watches have many uses

Any item inspired by the military usually has a functional use including watches.
Wristwatches were first used by the military to synchronize manoeuvres during a war. Since then, specialized watches have been used in the ocean by divers and high up in the sky by pilots.

One of the big advantages of a watch over a smartphone is how long it can operate outside. Most watches are made to use a small amount of energy from a battery. Think years of maintenance-free time telling, compare that to a smart phone's short battery life!

A complicated watch is designed with features beyond the basic function of displaying the time and date. Two of the most common features are the chronograph, which allows the watch to function as a stopwatch and the moon phase display, which shows the lunar phase.

Watches provide simplicity

Luxury watches don't use the latest technology. They are powered by ingenious mechanical clockwork technology that predated electricity. So when your cell phone runs out of battery - you can trust the technology that keeps running on your wrist.

When you wear a watch, it's less likely you will pull out your phone without thinking. Often, checking the phone for time results in a long list of activities including checking for new messages, Facebook or even your emails.

When you need to keep track of something as important as time - a unique device tailor-made to measure and manage time is justified for it.
